And just remember it was only 50 ft, nothing huge at all, and the blast was still 470 kilotons. For a better measure on the Kilotons, the atomic bomb that hit Hiroshima was only 12-14 kilotons. I think the one we used on Nagasaki was estimated between 20 and 40 kilotons. I can't say for sure, because each site I'm searching has different estimates, but nothing near the meteor.
Of course, if you start going into Hydrogen bombs, like "Ivan", the multistage Hydrogen bomb, then you are talking about a much bigger blast. From what I've found it was 15 megatons (1,500 kilotons)

wellll it only fell from space, that's a lot of potential energy that can be converted into heat. and 50 feet is pretty big

wellll it only fell from space, that's a lot of potential energy that can be converted into heat. and 50 feet is pretty big On our scale yes, but what I meant is on a galactic scale it's like a small pebble on a vast beach. There are so many objects in space that would make it look like a fleck of dust, and so many near earth objects that do the same. I meant it in an eye opening way, that it was something so insignificant on that scale, when at any time we could be struck with something of some magnitude, that still would be small on the galactic scale, and everything ends. It puts things in perspective. What if it was a tad bigger but still small enough to avoid detection? What if said meteor strikes the yellowstone area and actually impacts the super volcano setting off a chain reaction cataclysm? Or over one of the icy poles melting glacial ice raising sea level? Even a few feet world wide of extra depth to the ocean would cause massive flooding and destruction. It reminds me, hopefully others too, just how fragile our existence really is.

Are there any reports of people going blind overnight or large walking plants?
