A whole lot of unknown there. Plus sanders does have injury concerns. The unknown of miller coming back and apparent serious injury of spaeth also adds to the concerns. As long as sanders stays healthy it should be ok. Until miller gets back we could struggle in the red zone though I think David Paulson will be good enough to hold the fort until Miller returns. Paulson has been stepping it up in Training Camp and has made at least one ridiculous catch during each session. Also, Burress' injury is a torn rotator cuff and not only could he be out for the season, this could be the end of his career. Yeah I saw about burress, that's why I said I wish breaston was still available. Paulson will do fine, and coyld be a good #2 TE for us or awhile, but won't bring the tall redzone target. And he isn't a starting TE.

Matt Spaeth's season is over. Will need Lisfranc surgery. That really sucks...

Well the preseason game sure looked like a repeat of last year, special team gaffs, penalties, and some sloppy play offensively. But preseason is preseason, who just like to see less mental errors.
On the bright side Stephens-Howlings fits the ZBS like a glove and I wont be surprised if he is Bell's primary back up this season, would love to see him used more often. First team OL looked solid for the most part especially run blocking, I'm not a strong at judging linemen but Mike Adams looked to me that he fit in at LT and Kelvin Beachum has done nothing but improve and could easily be our next utility man on the OL. Looks like we wont be missing Wallace and Burress too much, Sanders, Wheaton, J Brown, all impressed for the most part, Brown almost had a TD, and JD Woods made some tough catches late in the game and Derek Moye didn't disappoint. I'd be happy with a WR line up of Brown, Sanders, Wheaton, Cotchery, and J Brown, with Derek Moye and JD Woods competing for the 6th spot if they choose to keep that many or for PS spots. We have an abundance of riches at ILB, I can't think of a player that disappointed at that position. Sylvester looked solid before his injury, if he can keep that up and show something at OB as well then it will better his odds. Vince William and Marshall McFadden will compete for the second back up spot, both looked very good on Saturday. Brain Rolle, Terence Garvin, and Kion Wilson all impressed when on the field, if will be tough not to want to keep more than 4 ILB just because of the potential and possibility of STs play but one or two of these players will make great practice squad players if they even make it that far. DE/NT Al Woods looks legit, that's what happens when you are a player that has the luxury of sitting behind established starters and getting coached by the best, his position flexibility makes it even easier to get him on the field in nickel and dime situations. Alameda Ta'amu and Fangopu both had their ups and downs, but showed some things that the coaches will like, but needs to consistently anchor better. Didn't see too many fireworks at OLB other than two boneheaded plays by Worilds. Jarvis Jones showed some potential that we expected while still looking like a rookie, he just needs time to adjust to the speed of the game. Robinson had a fumble recovery for a TD and looked decent with his time on the field as well as Alan Baxter. Well there was some good things and bad things from the secondary, first Polamalu looks healthy when playing near the LOS, but our starting secondary was also getting beat on plays. Josh Victorian was up and down, Isaiah Green looked serviceable, Shamarko Thomas played mostly in the slot in the nickel with Robert Golden and Damon Cromartie-Smith at safety, Thomas seemed to be a round the ball a good bit but didn't make any splash plays, Golden almost had his hands on an INT and looked solid. It's certainly nice to have two safeties that can double as man coverage players in the nickel, especially with the risky CB depth. David Paulson didn't get a lot of passes and still doesn't look like anything more than an average blocker, simply put get the man the ball. Will Johnson picked up where he left off last year, and could be an important part of the offense, took two dump passes for 1st downs with ease. I would like to see him featured as a TE more often. Recently acquired TE Michael Palmer looks like a pretty decent blocker which could come in handy.

Hopefully worilds cuts out the penalties and can play well thi year, because jones does not look like he is an every down player yet. Could be a good 3rd down rusher this year though.
Why the hell did we spend a 4th rounder on Landry jones? such a waste.

Backup OG Justin Cheadle carted off the field in a lot of pain, per twitter @markkaboly_Trib. Guy Whimper is in at LG now.
CRAP! Our OL has to be cursed or something. Our backups are dropping like flies. Right now we have about 7 confirmed: Adams, Foster, Pouncey, DeCastro, and Gilbert as the starters with Beachum and Malecki as the only locks to make the 53-Man roster as backups. The final 8 and maybe 9 spots are up for grabs between Mike Golic Jr, Guy Whimper, Joe Long, Chris Hubbard, D'Anthony Batiste, and Mike Farrell. Farrell, Hubbard, and Golic Jr. are UDFAs from Penn State, UAB, and Notre Dame respectively.

Heath Miller is likely to be activated from PUP list before Week 1, but the Steelers likely won't play him until maybe the 4th game of the regular season. Miller's timetable is probably going to be the same that Mendenhall's was last year.

Jarvis Jones starting with 1st Team Defense tonight at Practice according to @markkaboly_Trib
Looks like Jason Worilds is in Mike Tomlin's doghouse after his undisciplined penalties during the 1st Preseason Game.
