No offence intended but we aren't writers and even if we allowed people to come here for news they wouldn't do so. This place is what it is - a darn good forum for chat. I am though, I'm working on getting my name out there and going to school to get my BA in sports media and marketing <.<

Does anybody know how NFL.com updates the stats live? Is it like a robot or do people manually watch the game and then enter the stats into the CPU?

I can't believe they did this hebert, and with NO warning. We would've had NO clue if not for MB. The guy is a saint. But I can't figure WHY they would go this far!?! How can we screw with them as far as getting the word out to the masses? Looks grim, argh. I'm with you, dive. And this is especially weird considering that the NFL is always trying to keep their fans connected to the league and the sport of football. I'm sure the forums drove an audience who didn't post as we did, but followed our discussions in silence in order to keep themselves informed and entertained at the same time. Just look at those who went there to seek for fantasy advice. You, dive, were the one always offering a helping hand as I remember. Let's also remember that we were all there not only for the threads, but for the whole website. We clicked on articles, we clicked on videos and we even watched every piece of advertisement that is there. At least I did. Dumping their audience like this is something I would avoid to do unless absolutely necessary. I don't really know what it takes in terms of work and money to run a website, but I really think that things could have been handled differently. Disruptive users can always be kicked out when they appear, and if they appear again under a different alias (pretty much the case there), we could keep kicking them out until they give up for good. Many saw this coming as quick as the comment box on articles turned into Facebook comments and were smart enough to create this space where we are all now (kudos to pantherfan or everyone else I'm forgetting to credit for that), but I tried and stayed optimistic and loyal to our original space. The mods are the least to blame for all it happened as I think this was a webmaster decision. We still have to learn the truth behind it. What a let down! At least, most of us will keep in touch with each other and that's all that matters now.

Well every play is logged on a computer and written on paper, so they probably use that to either directly translate it to what we see on NFL.com, or someone probably copies the info down, therefore creating that 10-30 second (depending on your internet speed) lag between live plays and updates seen on the site

A forum getting bigger isn't exactly the best thing either. I've been involved in fan sites for a few things to the point that the owners of such interests became "friendly" with the mods and started to restrict criticism of their product on forum boards they really didn't even own. I honestly don't think this will become an issue but it's always a possibility if this forum gets as big as Beast thinks.
