The Steelers have reportedly suspended RB Rashard Mendenhall 1 game for conduct detrimental to the team. After he was told he wasn't going to dress for the game against San Diego, he didn't show up at Heinz Field.
I think this might be the final straw for Mendenhall in Pittsburgh. He doesn't deserve to start here anymore and it would cost too much to keep him around. The relationship between him and the Steelers is obviously strained and I feel like there would be too much hostility during the contract negotiations that nothing will get done and he will try his luck in Free Agency. Thank you for your production Mendenhall, but you need to move on somewhere else. I say the Steelers look for someone in the Draft with the explosiveness to replace Mendenhall, preferably Eddie Lacy or Andre Ellington in the 2nd Round.

If the Colts sign Mendenhall I'll be frustrated
C'mon, this team is set at RB with Vick Ballard, Ballard is so much better than Donald Brown, Ballard can squeeze in the half nanometer holes created by the offensive line, Brown loses yards every time, and the Colts should get a guard in the first round for the running game and for the passing game, Chance Warmack, Jonathan Cooper or Barrett Jones, their guards are a trainwreck, especially Seth Olsen. I almost died when I knew he was starting for the Titans game

Mendenhall had 2 straight 1,000 yard seasons and a 900 yard season with worse OLs. He is just on a down year, probably because it is a contract year for him. He is also coming off of a torn ACL late last season (I know AP had the same injury at around the same time, but Mendy isn't even close to AP's level).

Green Bay or Arizona, most likely. But only if he doesn't demand a huge contract.

He has a tendency to dance around in the backfield looking for a big play rather than run with a head full of steam towards the LOS. He has also had fumble issues. He would probably work best in a tandem with someone like CJ2K or Jamaal Charles where he would be underestimated in his big play ability. Kind of like how Ben Tate was working with Arian Foster before this season.

I hope the Steelers don't resign him because if he leaves in Free Agency, we would get a 3rd-4th Round compensatory pick for him in the 2014 Draft and the Steelers are the best in the NFL at finding talent in the middle rounds.

Mendenhall is an impressive back when he doesn't have to carry the load by himself. I think he would work really well as a change of pace back.. Get him playing with a big bruiser of a back, then when the defense is tired you put him in and he will run wild on them. He would work well in tandem with a guy like Stevan Jackson or Johnathan Stewart.
