Report: Jon Gruden talking to the Raiders about a return Posted by Mike Florio on December 4, 2012, 8:18 PM EST Cowboys Raiders Football AP
Last week, former Raiders and Bucs coach Jon Gruden supposedly was in talks to return to the University of Tennessee, where he once served as a graduate assistant.
This week, former Raiders and Bucs coach Jon Gruden supposedly is in talks to return to the Raiders, where he once served as the head coach.
That’s what Hub Arkush of Pro Football Weekly told WSCR in Chicago earlier today.
It’s good that Gruden has made it clear that he’s committed to ESPN. If he hadn’t, the rumors would be really out of control.
This specific rumor seems to be a little far fetched. Then again, the fact that new owner Mark Davis isn’t happy with the direction of the team could make him interested in talking to Gruden. And since Gruden is interested in maximizing his leverage, it makes sense that Gruden would listen.
ALL I GOT TO SAY IS .......HELL YEAH

Well that could definitely turn the Raiders around.. I would be sad to see him go from MNF cause he is one of my favorite announcers... but the raiders need him more!

I'm thinking this is more rumor than fact. Too bad, tho. It would be a lot of fun to see Coach back on the Raiders sidelines.

I don't know, I kind of want to give this one credit, partly because I'd desperately love to see him back, but more so for the quick and heavy handed retort by the raiders about the rumor. It's almost like a back door deal caught some light, and they wanted to quash it before it ruined what the team has going now by discrediting Allen, or, maybe he is in on it too and wants to step down to DC. But the quick, and nearly outrageous retort by the organization is what gives this believability to me.

He won't save you. Just my opinion. He wouldn't save the Chargers either. He needs to stay where he is.

lol saving us involves 3-5 years of rebuilding, which I trust him to do. There isn't a quick fix this time lol if there was I'd be calling for it.

In my opinion Gruden is not in it for the long run. Chargers and Raiders are pretty much in the same boat.
We will have a new coach next year and a GM. I don't want Gruden. I want Don Coryell! Dang IT! haha okay I'll take a young guy. Who gets excited and spits on you when he talks. I don't want Andy Reid EITHER

I think Gruden would be actually, if the price was right, and that was the only issue he had with us in the past. The pay is why he left, and what him and Al had animosity over. He came in and helped us rebuild once, I don't see why he wouldn't again.

Well that really depends on who your GM is, but right now my two best bets actually come out of college rather then a established co-ordinator. I can see you guys targeting Chip Kelly big time, if that doesn't pan out I'd put my money on David Shaw, if he leaves stanford.
