What is even more funny is that they chose Pelicans over the other considered names of the New Orleans Krewe and the New Orleans Brass.

Seriously, how badass would the "New Orleans Krewe" sound (though Krewe does stand for people in costume parading)? Even New Orleans Brass would sound better since it fits the culture of New Orleans. The only reason Pelicans was chosen because it was the state bird and is part of their flag (they were also a baseball team in New Orleans). That has got to be the least intimidating name in sports history...

Its about time. Give us back our name bastards.
Now we will be the Hornets again and I wont have to refer to the team in New Orleans as "that basketball team in New Orleans" anymore.
