Rolando McClain has become VERY outspoken about wanting to be released from the Oakland Raiders, going so far as to say on facebook page "Officially no longer an Oakland Raider!!". He clarified saying "Well technically I am, but I'm mentally done. Just waiting on my papers."
Other messages include:
"It's out of my hands now"
"I'm going to weigh my options. Looking foward to playing for an actual team."
"I'd like to be anywhere besides here."
Thoughts?

Personally, when the Raiders drafted McClain, I immediately thought that it was the best and smartest 1st Round Pick Al Davis made in the 2000s. It is a shame that it has come to this.

He has done nothing to prove he was worth that high of a pick. But TBH CoC I had thought the same thing. Just he never lived up to it. Now he is acting like a cry baby because he got surpassed on the depth chart.
As Jeff said, good riddance. If he isn't willing to do what it takes to become the player he was suppose to be, and would rather pout then act like a leader then he can go away. The mentality he has now is the attitude we need to get rid of in the locker room. It's cancerous, its self-centered, and it's detrimental to our rebuilding.
All he had to do is act like an adult, but instead he's a grown man throwing a two year old's tantrum. He had his chance, even after the case against him, to remain our #1 guy. But he pissed it away. And now he's crying about it, instead of working to earn it back.

He just got suspended by the team for 2 games for "conduct detrimental to the team" and has been told to stay away from the team facilities.

Anyone else see him ending up in Philly when he gets released? This is exactly their favorite type of player! The me me kind!
Also what a wasted talent he has been.. All the talent in the world, I believe physically he is able to play to a top caliber and I have seen sparks to show his talent, but he has never consistently been able to play at a high level..

Philly or Cincy (well known for taking on problem players).

It's better to suspend him rather than cut him if the Raiders can make it stick, (shouldn't be difficult). There's no benefit to them in paying him in full then releasing him. I don't think next year's money is guaranteed so cutting him at some stage won't hurt - as long as it's before his $250K pre-season bonus date. If they can suspend him for the final games of the season they will likely do so. If not they may 'bury' him in the game-day inactive players list. My guess is that he'll still be on the roster in February as they'll seek a trading partner. Do the Patriots still have a 5th round pick? lol.
