if the bengals win this game today, we are back in the playoff race for real.
the odds are stacked against them, but the schedule is favorable
games like raiders, chargers, and eagles are winnable. you gotta wonder if they can beat teams like the cowboys, steelers, and ravens though
last time the bengals were 4-5 (2006) they went on a 4 game winning streak, but lost there final 3 game to finish 8-8. i would be pretty happy with 8-8 despite not making the playoffs
lets look at the positives and negatives
positives: the chiefs lead in the nfl in turnovers with 30. chiefs finally broke there long streak this year of trailing during an nfl before regulation which is the longest streak made by a team since 1926. a.j green leads in the nfl in receiving TD's with 9, and is also in the top 10 of catches and receiving yards. the bengals had 4 interceptions in the last 2 games combined. DT geno atkins has 7 sacks on the year, which leads all DT's in the nfl. the bengals are in the top 10 for passing yards
negatives: the chiefs are in the top 5 in rushing yards, while the bengals are in the bottom 10 against the run, allowing 4.4 yards on average a carry. jamaal charles did run for over 100 yards on the steelers, which doesnt settle well with the bengals. last time the bengals played in arrowhead (2007) they lost 27-20, despite the chiefs finishing 4-12 that year.
NOTES: starting WR armon binns is no longer the #2 WR as WR brandon tate is back as the starter. binns actually took the job away from tate after week 1, but binns has been a nonfactor the last 3 games, forcing him to lose his job. also LB dan stuka is the new backup ILB but will also remain as a backup OLB still
starting S reggie nelson will likely be out this game again, which means it should be nate clements and chris crocker starting at S's
starting C jeff faine as listed as questionable this game. he was not deactivated last week, but backup undrafted rookie trevor robinson started in his place anyway. robinson actually has played pretty good too, so dont be surprised if faine doesnt start again
PREDICTION
this game will be close. the chiefs did almost beat the steelers in there own house on national television, which shows you the chiefs are playing with a desperation. the game will come down to offense. can the chiefs running game outplay the bengals passing game? thats what will decide the game

if the bengals win they are back in the race. but they will need some help on the way this week
the bengals already got some help by the bills who beat the dolphins thursday 19-14, so both teams stand at 4-6 right now. the titans are also 4-6 on a bye week, but i cant see how any of these 3 teams can get back up now
that leaves 3 teams in our way now
chargers sit at 4-5 and will play the 6-3 broncos, which i need the chargers to lose
steelers and colts whom are both 6-3 right now sitting at the wildcard spots, i need to lose this week too
yes the division chance for the bengals is long gone, so i want the 7-2 ravens to run away with it tonight on the steelers to help our chances
the colts get to play the 6-3 patriots, so that looks favorable for me.
however in the long run, our best chance is probably to knock out the steelers since we still play them. the colts got a pretty favorable schedule still
for anybody elses team that is fighting in the wildcard race, you might be watching this game today that means, hoping the chiefs wins
enjoy the games today. go bengals, broncos, patriots, and ravens
