www.9news.com/sports/broncos-quarterback-peyton-manning-retires/70523281Manning will retire. I can't say I'm surprised or upset. He was great with us for a few years but over the last year and a half he has shown that he doesn't have much left in the tank. Farewell to one of the all time greats of the game. Let's please not turn this thread into a discussion about Manning. He was a Bronco and he retired, so I am reporting it. If you want to bash his career, start a thread somewhere else or go find one of the 50 other ones already in existence. In other news, Broncos reportedly offer Osweiler $45 million over three years. I think the price tag is very high for him there, but considering what else is out there the Broncos don't have much choice. Brock already knows the system and started 7 games last year, so he has some chemistry with many of our players already. Apparently the contract offer has several incentives in there as well as part of the $45 million, which is good news if he takes it. He's worth $15 million a year if he performs well, but he's still a big risk at this point for that money. The big question is whether or not he'll take the deal. He's probably able to make more money somewhere else, but nowhere else can you find a QB opening for a team as good as Denver. Anywhere else he goes (except maybe Houston or NYJ) he would have to expect several years of building before becoming a real contender. The team is still talking about trying to resign Jackson, and restructure contracts for Ware and Clady. We'll see what happens. Fuck! I'm happy Manning retired. I was getting worried that he was gonna Favre this mofo! There is still plenty of time for that type of situation.

Broncos release TE Owen Daniels and G Louis Vasquez. That now means that we have a major need for a TE (Davis is also a FA... all we have now is Virgil Green and Jeff Heuermann) and we have a gaping whole on our O-Line, with Mathis going to FA and now Vasquez released. We will need to address our O-line in both free agency and the draft.
Osweiler sounds like he's narrowed things down to Houston and Denver, and reports say he likes O'Brien's offence more than Kubiak's. If we lose him as well, we are stuck with options like Fitzpatick, Daniel, Henne, Hasslebeck, Moore, RG3, Manziel... It doesn't look, considering ever Brock is a major question mark at this point.
We are not likely to resign Hillman either, and we placed a late round tender on CJ Anderson, so we could end up without a viable RB as well. I know our defense is what won us the championship, but I think it is still important to have a line, TE, RB and QB who are at least passable as starters.
We did place a 2nd round tender on Marshall and I think it is likely that we resign him, so we will at least keep one of our inside linebackers. Our secondary will still be one of the best in the league next year, and we're only losing Jackson and Trevathan from our front seven, but I am a little worried about our situation on the other side of the ball right now...

We did just sign KC offensive tackle Donald Stephenson: www.9news.com/sports/broncos-to-add-starting-offensive-tackle-donald-stephenson/74205262Pretty much all we have for our O-line right now are four tackles (Clady, Schofield, Sombrailo and Stephenson) and maybe only two of them are qualified starters at this point. We also have Max Garcia who hasn't proven hismelf as a starter at guard, and then a few practice roster guys. Get to work Mr. Elway.

He was really solid until his suspension. After that he (shockingly?) fell off hard. He actually started to work his way back to being a pretty solid player, but he was unhappy with the front office.

I didn't know much about him. Hopefully if the talent is there he will be happier with us. What are the odds of him making a transition to guard? We are paying him about $5 million a year, so they are planning to have him start. I just don't know if they will bump him inside, or Schofield.

I just don't know if they will bump him inside, or Schofield. I'd say the odds are low. I don't recall him playing any guard. And we've struggled at guard. But he has solid experience at LT and RT both. A lot of Chief fans think he was the superior LT to Fisher, but we sort of forced Fisher into the LT spot because of the #1 pick status.

Interesting. Maybe even Clady is worth moving around. Sombrailo also played well when he was healthy last year.. So many tackles... So little else. What was his suspension for?

PED's Which is why I said it was "Shocking" that he fell off when he came back... But he really started to circle back around to being very solid.
