It's a legit question, I wanted to know if anyone wanted to place any bets on how long it will be.

I suspect it will be much sooner than I thought...might be my own Washington DC, too. Not much to do about that if it does happen obviously. But it's an interesting exercise in "normalcy bias" and denial to see how Americans react to the North Korean threats. There is a very real possibility that in the next decade, we will lose some major cities in the USA to nuclear bombs, and discounting this possibility as nonsense or fear-mongering is denial of something serious. I think there is a big difference between what you are doing here and fear-mongering. You are genuinely interested in discussing the possibility with an attitude of "Not much to do about that if it does happen obviously." I can respect that. The fear-mongering comes in when people start trying to do something about a problem that they think exists but have no real evidence that it actually does. I think you're right that there is a possibility that an American city gets targeted. Honestly if Trump is elected, I bet that possibility goes up ten-fold, because the crazy shit he is currently saying he will do to "terrorists" that breaks many international laws will stir up even more hate and more fear on both sides of the issue.
But even as it is, there are countries out there (or even just some powerful groups) who clearly do not like America and if given the opportunity would probably launch a huge attack. But like you said, as one individual with no political power or influence, not much to do about it if it does happen...

Move to a less populated city. Or out of cities all together. Come live in the boonies. Likelyhood of being nuked drops dramatically.
