Tennessee earned an extra 7th round pick back in August in exchange for trading DE Lavar Edwards to Dallas.

Jets release Chris Johnson. While he's clearly past his prime, and possibly not even worth a roster spot, I would love to see him back in Tennessee as a spell back for cheap behind Bishop Sankey.
Mike Vick also hit free agency. No interest there.

A few notes from twitter that I saw today: -The 2014 draft class has been in the building everyday working out and rehabbing. Apparently Mett and his left tackle Taylor Lewan are rehabbing injuries, of which Lewan said "I could play a game tomorrow" about his ankle sprain from last season. No word on the shoulder injury that Mett is dealing with. -Apparently the star of the weight room is Bishop Sankey though. According to Lewan, Bishop has been "at HQ, busting it every day.". -According to a leak at EA Sports, Taylor Lewan is a 90 overall in the upcoming final update to madden 15. But Casey is only an 87. SMH -Today Zach Mettenberger said that he liked Winston and Mariota "as athletes", but he guaranteed that he would beat out either in a fair QB competition. -Nevermind on the earlier note on Mettenberger. Shoulder is 100%. -I can't believe that this will actually happen, but Ruston Webster wouldn't rule out resigning Jake Locker to a long term deal this offseason. Personally, he's not a backup I would want to have. He's very talented but needs to be the focus of an offense. Locker showed this year that he can't come back without prep and play well. He needs the practice reps and scheme working for him. I'm betting he signs with Cleveland or Chicago. -Chance Warmack graded as the third best guard in the NFL over the second half the season according to PFF, and was graded as above average or better every game down the stretch. Amazing grades against when the Titans run, above average in pass coverage -South Carolina guard AJ Cann says he wants to play for the Titans due to his friendship with Chance Warmack. Maybe he can replace Levitre if we cut him, which I don't think we will. We've got bigger needs than guard, but I could see Cann in round 3 IF the coaches don't feel that Levitre can get back to what he was doing two years ago in Buffalo. - This is Marqueston Huff. If week one were tomorrow, he would be our replacement at SS for Bernard Pollard. It seems to me like the Titans don't have such a big hole at safety like our fans say we do. Huff was a 4th round pick who also snagged a gimme pick six against Eli Manning this season.

After weeks of speculation, the Titans make official what we already knew: Bernard Pollard has been cut from the team.
The cut saves 3.25 million against he cap. This promotes 2013 7th round pick Daimion Stafford to our starting strong safety spot. While it's speculated that the Titans will bring in some strong safety talent in free agency or the draft.
That said, Stafford came in last season after Pollard and George Wilson suffered injuries and played well. While he's not as good as Bernard in coverage, Stafford is faster than Pollard, has better range, and showed off the same knack for big hits that Bernard brought to the Titans in 2013.

Titans sign former Atlanta Falcon outside linebacker Johnathon Massaquoi.
I love the signing for two reasons: first, we have exactly one outside linebacker on the roster right now, and he's Kam Wimbley, and he's in no way a starter. Second, Massaquoi is a decent pass rusher and a really good scheme fit for the 3-4SAM LE spot. This position is a mix of a 4-3 LE and a weakside 4-3 OLB. It was Kam Wimbley/Sean Phillips' spot in 2014 on the opposite side of Derrick Morgan. I'm guessing JM is going to be playing almost exclusively with his hand in the dirt.
No contract figures yet. I'll update this when I see them. It was a waiver claim so I'm guessing we overpaid, but I'm okay with that since it's a waiver claim that we might not have gotten otherwise.

Reports are saying Andre Johnson is nearly a lock to the colts. I really hope it's via trade so that they pay his rich salary and have to give up something to do it.
I missed a few days ago that the Titans signed Jacoby Ford. I don't get this signing. We have Dexter McCluster to return kicks, so I guess we're just bringing in another.

Jason La Canfora is report Cleveland wants to move up for Mariota, but no word on which team is a trading partner. Below is how many points the Browns owe assuming they switch the 1.12 for a given teams pick, along with an offer that's balanced based on the cap. I imagine that if the Browns want Mariota, they'll need to trade into the top 4.
According to the chart it would be: Tampa: net 1800. 2015 1, 2015 1, 2015 2, 2015 3, 2015 4, 2016 2 OR 2015 1, 2015 1, 2016 1. Tennessee: net 1400. 2015 1, 2015 1, 2015 2, 2015 3. Jacksonville: net 1000. 2015 1, 2015 1, 2015 4, 2015 5. Oakland: net 600 2015 1, 2015 2, 2015 3.

Reports about the Titans in the last week alone:
"Marcus Mariota is going second overall ... I don't know to which team, but he's going second overall." - One general manager to Jason La Canfora.
"The feeling is that Jameis Winston and Marcus Mariota will go one and two in some order." - Adam Schefter
"From guys I talk to around the league they don't understand how the Titans couldn't take Marcus Mariota." - Sam Wyche
"Some who know Tennessee coach Ken Whisenhunt well figure in the end, barring him being blown out of the water with a trade offer, he goes ahead and drafts Marcus Mariota." - JLC
"Marcus Mariota is a quarterback who you start from day 1 if you draft him [at #2 overall]" - Ken Whisenhunt.
hmmm I wonder what's going to happen. Let's consult the tea leaves shall we?

Absolute favorite scenario: Falcons trade up to get Leonard Williams and the Titans take Mariota later and get a boat load of draft picks
