Wow lol. This is easily the world all time team year.. Brandon LaFell as their 4th receiver... Jake Delhomme as their starting QB.. if the all time teams played a season I believe the Panthers would finish last in the league!
I wish Dan Morgan could be on this list, but I totally get why he isn't.

(Tampa, Atlanta, and New Orleans) They would certainly finish last and probably winless depending on the non-division opponents. They might squeak out a win against a Jacksonville, Houston, or Baltimore. I think the Saints would win the division followed by the Falcons then the Bucs.
Now the question I posed when posting the Jaguars roster. How many games would this team win with these players in their primes against 2014 teams?

bears75 I still think they would be an upper echelon team against teams now a days.. I'd still say they are a playoff contender, especially in the week NFC south this season. Likely 9 or 11 wins. Their QB position really drags them down here, Delhomme even in his prime wasn't anything more than a middle of the table QB. Their Rbs in their prime are great and would both likely run for 1k each again, and make it extremely hard on teams. Their O-line is good but not greats its beatable especially on the right side IMO. Two good receivers and than nothing else behind them really worth mentioning.. Their TE's are nothing special.. Greg Olsen IMO is the better receiver of the two TEs and he is barely a top 10 TE now a days.. Outside of the run game there is nothing overly special about this offense It might be a top 10 offense in the league now a days. I think there are teams in the league right now with far better offensive units than this one. The defense has impressive parts and not so impressive parts. Peppers alone in his prime would make QBs quake with fear, add Rucker, Hard and Johnson to that and you have one hell of a nascar package and just a great pass rush. Honestly with the position Kevin Greene plays he'd be more of a DE than an OLB in the 4-3. The DT spot is nothing special here, Jenkins is damn good but the rest aren't overly great. LB is a great spot for them with Beason and Davis rocking it out. Kevin Greene is a sack master and Will Witherspoon is a great coverage back, so they would likely move in and out of packages together. It would be a very solid LB corp. Their starting two DBs are great, Gamble is one of the most underrated all time CBs IMO, and Lucas had a very solid career. But when you start getting into their Nickle guys you start seeing good but not great players. Two solid safeties but again not top flight guys. Their whole defense is solid but nothing special.. Their pass rush is what would make them a great defense. Still a solid enough team to win around 10 games.. don't think they would make the superbowl.. I think Green Bay would beat them in the NFC championship game.

If memory serves me correctly didn't Delhomme lead the Panthers to the super bowl? If he could do that with less talent then given the Panthers dream team I think they would be a super bowl favorite. Smith and Muhammad were both excellent wide receivers. I don't see a team in the game today with a better WR combo. Three very good running backs and two better than average TE. Solid offensive line. Not the best in he league but arguably top 5. Peppers and Greene would give QB's nightmares. They would win games just due to the opponents insomnia the night before the game. DB's are solid enough and with that pass rush would be more than adequate I see them going 13-3 if not 14-2

I prefer to say he was lucky enough to be on a superbowl contending team. He was a very mediocre QB his whole career, if they would have had a better QB they would have been a far better team than they were. Delhomme their superbowl season threw for 3219 yards, 19td and 16int and his comp% was 59% not what I would call a superbowl calibre year. Their runningback Stephen Davis that season ran for 1444 yard and 8tds He had a great year. They did however have the 8th ranked defense, 11th in run stopping, 9th in stopping the pass. They also had 42 takeaways that year.. (Fun fact the Pats had the #1 ranked overall defense paired with the most takeaways.) Their defense and run game carried them to a superbowl with their pass game only working thanks to those. Also as much as I love Mushin Muhammad he wasn't a really great WR.. He was a good WR but he only ever broke 1000 yards 3 times in his career and only broke 10 TDs once.. In the league now I can think of 5 teams off the top of my head that have better receiving corps, and one who is arguably as good if not better. GB, DEN, DET, ATL, CHI and DAL being the questionable one. Steve Smith has been a top 10 receiver most of his career and he is great but Muhammad was inconsistent.. I think their defense would keep them in every game, I just question their offense's ability against the really good teams to match the points they can put up.

Remember, Delhomme was streaky that year. At his best he was phenomenal, as was the case in the SB that season (2003 season). Reminiscent of Mark Rypien with Washington. He was not quite the caretaker Dilfer was, however. He was relied on a little more than that. Also - one of the greatest and most under rated SBs ever played, except for the very END of it, which sucked (Kasay kicking the ball outta bounds after the tying score).
