They would be almost a lock for the playoffs, and probably super bowl favorites, but the fact that this team isn't even as good on paper as a few NFL teams is really telling. Fred Taylor and Jimmy Smith are great, and then there's really nothing better than a good NFL team here. Remember that they have only been around for 2 decades. They have only had a few generations of players come and go through their squad so for them only to have a few truly great players isn't a surprise. Look at Houston and Carolina, neither of them will have much better of a team than the Jags.. Even the Ravens all time roster won't be overly impressive compared to the teams that have been around much longer. The ravens will include Baltimore Colts players. I think only Houston will be worse than this.

But no, they're an expansion team.

Ravens are a completely different franchise and have no tie to the old Baltimore Colts team..

Any team with LeftAnklewich as one of its best of all time should be hanging its head anyway...

Oh shit why did I think the Ravens got the colts players lol that makes no sense. May bad. Yeah, the Ravens will have Jim Brown won't they lol? Or are they only the new ravens? Even so, the turn of the century ravens players will make the team great.

I'd say a good 12 to 14 wins, this team although weak compared to other all time teams is still very impressive. Their O-line would be as good as any in the league right now, and would give Taylor and MJD a lot of holes to tear teams apart with. Their WRs aren't great but again thanks to the line Brunnell would have more than enough time to find the open receivers, and if Lewis would actually be healthy he'd be a great TE to have. On defense they are lead by two fantastic DTs who in their prime were both top 5 DTs in the league, and their LBs are very strong. Peterson was incredible in his prime, and Daryl Smith is one of if not the most underrated LBs in the league in the past decade. Teams wouldn't be able to run against this team. Their secondary is also very strong, Mathis in his prime was a premier shutdown corner, and Beasley was a good ball hawk. Their safteys are also very good so they have no problems in the secondary. Only worry about the defense would be their passrushers. Brackens was good, but Meir... not so much. However playing beside Stroud and Henderson would REALLY help those guys out a lot and the team would still get good pressure. The'd be a superbowl contender in the league now IMO. Excellent analysis! Really enjoyed reading it and I concur completely. Was thinking 14-2 maybe 15-1 . Always felt like Brunell was underrated and a very solid starting quarterback. Jimmy Smith and Keenan McCardell were pro bowl caliber receivers. Taylor and Jones-Drew would make for a very dangerous 2 headed ground game with an O-Line as good if not better than any in the game today and a defense that would easily be top 3. Looking at the 2014 Jaguars schedule I don't see a single team they wouldn't be favored against.

When they left Cleveland they left the history and legacy of the older players back there. They were basically an expansion team for Baltimore when they went there and started their own history - that was how it was viewed by THEM even at the time. The NEW Browns would include the history of the previous Browns. Only the Ravens players of the last 18-20 years would be eligible for an all time team.
