Is this a classless, no integrity move? Or is it just hilarious and a smart play? I tend to lean towards the latter. lol, this was clever thinking.

As I see it that is absolutely fucking classless and it has 0 integrity by the goalie.. Why doesn't every goalie just do this every time a team goes on a break away? The reason is its an unspoken rule not to. This should be a penalty shot for the opposing team if not just an automatic goal. Disappointing to see someone do that.. The net comes off to protect players from injury not so goalies can essentially cheat. Your defense makes a mistake so you can just lift the net and save the goal? Its absolutely lame on his part, I would be insanely pissed off if I where the other team.

Went to the Caps game tonight vs Calgary. Weird game: both teams scored own goals. Caps own goal was particularly awful as it was the equalizer with four minutes left. Ended up losing in OT. One highlight was when a Flame player (apparently it was Lance Bouma) tried to deck a Capital and ran himself right over the boards head first: his feet were even sticking up and everything. Look for that and the two own goals on SC Not Top Ten for this week.

He just decided that he would rather take his chances against a penalty shot, as opposed to a 2 on 0, where the chances of him getting scored on are higher. I see that play by the goalie as similar to an NFL DB intentionally committing pass interference to save a touchdown, or a basketball player intentionally fouling a player to keep them from getting an easy lay up. Nobody ever calls those plays classless. I think it's pretty much the same thing, they are all just doing what they think is best for the team to keep from getting scored on.

Why should he get to choose whether or not he gets to do a 2 on one or a 1 on 1. Any goalie would take the 1 on 1 every single time. It takes away from the way the game is meant to be played, "Oh shit my defense made a mistake I guess I better just flip the net off the moorings and take the easy route". I think players who take intentionally penalties in any sport are classless, it is cheating. You aren't playing the game the way its made to be played. If you are beat strait up take it like a man don't cheat to win.

MarchingOn Jindred I think it is a very smart move. There was obviously an issue with the rules, and he exploited it. What's wrong with that? It's like teams in the N.F.L. throwing 40+ passes per game. They are exploiting the BS rules we have now which prohibit DBs from touching or even really breathing too hard on receivers. But is it wrong for them to do it if it's within the rules? I don't think so.

As "smart" as it may be because it saved them a goal, its totally classless. How many other goalies have you ever seen do this? I am going to say none to very few. And the answer remains that its because it show a total lack of class within the game. Its the same thing as a guy taking a hand ball to save a goal in soccer like Suarez did in the the 2010 world cup. Its doing something against the rules to win..

Is it wrong to foul a break away shooter in basketball? I don't mind this. And if it's done enough to be a real issue, they'll make a rule.

This was the first time I've ever seen it done obvious and blatant, but goalies "accidentally" knock the net off its moorings all the time.
