It's finally here. The season starts today! I'm really excited to see what Peter Laviolette will do with the Predators. I was really excited when we hired him, I think he'll give the offense some much needed firepower. Pekka Rinne is also back at full health, so having him undoubtedly helps the team as well. I'm hoping for a Seth Jones breakout year. Jones + Shea Weber on defense has a chance to be every bit as good as Suter + Weber was.

Alright yearly leafs prediction.. The Leafs will come out of the gate strong surprising everyone, they will take an early lead of the eastern division and look like contenders right off the bat.. Somewhere around 30 games in a few injuries will happen and leafs will start to slide, they will still be in contention for the playoffs and will still look like an alright team, not stanley cup quality but at the very least a team who could win a playoffs series.. around 50 games all shit will hit the fan and they will slide to the 9th spot in the east.. They will be about 2 games back of the final playoff spot and they will keep themselves in it right until around 75 games at which point they will go on a losing streak botch their chance at the playoffs and again murder leafs fans hopes.. They will finish out the season with 4 strong games where they beat the shit out of a few good opponents just to give enough hope to keep leafs fans coming back for the next season.. Sound about right saskabronco ?

DPNormanReturnsYou're a Caps fan, correct? How are you liking Barry Trotz as HC so far?

DPNormanReturnsYou're a Caps fan, correct? How are you liking Barry Trotz as HC so far? Yes I am a Caps fan. I've seen very little hockey this season (i.e. the third period plus shootout of the opener and a little bit of the Boston game), so I can't really come to any conclusions. I did see on YouTube a video the press conference he gave after one of the games where the Caps logo was perfectly placed on the screen right behind him, making it look as if he had devil horns. BTW don't expect much from me with hockey in terms of knowledge of the whole league. Unlike the way I follow the N.F.L., I really only watch hockey as a fan of the Capitals and I don't care a whole lot about the rest of the league, except in the playoffs sometimes.

Really encouraged by what I've seen from the Predators through 4 games. We could potentially make some noise this year.
- One of the best goalies in the game with Rinne, provided he can stay healthy. - A top 3 (maybe the best?) defensive core in the whole league. Weber/Josi is a sick pairing, and Jones/Volchenkov is pretty darn good as well. Third group isn't bad either, honestly. - The most important one: Goals are getting scored! Peter Laviolette has given our offense new life, which is exactly what he was hired to do.
Obviously it's still really early, but a really encouraging start for Nashville so far.

He laid out Jason Spezza when we played Dallas a few days ago.
