Bounce-Ball. One of our most beloved sports growing up in Southwest Philly. First you need a wiffle ball bat. Cut the end handle off, then stuff in some wet newspaper and bang it down to the end of the bat, so that it has a little bit of weight. Then use a shitload of tape to close it up around the handle. The pitcher has to bounce the tennis ball once on it's way to the batter. It has to bounce once, and only once, before you are able to hit it. We used to have people cover all three bases, and three in the outfield too. If I remember right, I think we even had a league one year. It was so much fun. I'm not sure if it was just a Southwest Philly thing or not though, but I've never noticed anyone else play it after I moved from Philly. Did anyone else here ever play bounce-ball?

I have played something very similar. Except we used wooden bats for it, and we didn't amputate them. And there was no bouncing, and a few more fielders too. But same concept.

We used to bat with a wood bat. We had a home plate with the garage door as a back stop. The pitcher was about at the street. He was close. He could throw the tennis ball as fast as he could. Try and strike you out. When you hit it, it went over the house across the street. The pitcher had to go thru their gate and get it.
