The kid is in some
VERY good company, and it's about time now that he starts getting some respect. Even when he’s bad, Nick Foles is still good. Just look at this shit. This isn't by chance, or luck. The kid IS special. Last season was no fluke. Foles’ achievements didn’t come out of nowhere. He broke some NFL records in his ROOKIE season as well...
He became the
first rookie in NFL history to complete 60 percent of his passes and throw for at least 240 yards per game. He also recorded the
second-best interception ratio in
NFL history by a rookie (1.89 per 100 attempts) and the
fifth-highest completion percentage
ever by a rookie (60.8 percent).
In only his second season as a pro, not even the starter to begin the season, he tied the NFL record for TD passes in a game. Shit, I KNOW he would've actually broke the record if Chip hadn't of pulled him out of the game early. It's ONLY him and Peyton to have ever thrown 7td's in a game, and Peyton will go down as one of the best Qb's to ever play the game.
He became the second NFL quarterback to post a perfect passer rating (158.3) while passing for more than 400 yards, and the
first NFL quarterback to post a perfect passer rating and throw seven touchdowns in a single game. Say whatever you will, but that's a special accomplishment.
TEN times last season, Foles' passer rating eclipsed 100. He tied Daunte Culpepper's record in 2010 for the most games with a passer rating of 100 or more by a QB in his second year. Dan Marino sits in second place in this category with nine. Foles also moved within one touchdown pass of the record 20 straight touchdown passes without an INT set by Peyton Manning.
Foles finished the 2013 regular season with 27 touchdown passes and only 2 interceptions,
surpassing Tom Brady's 2010 season posting of 36/4 for
the best TD-INT ratio in NFL history, and a season leading 119.0 passer rating and
third in NFL history trailing
only to Aaron Rodgers' 122.5 rating in 2011 and Peyton Manning's 121.1 rating in 2004. Oh yeah, Foles also won last years Pro Bowl Offensive MVP award.
Foles career passer rating of 99.9 is
third-highest in NFL history by a quarterback in his first two years, behind
only Dan Marino (107.9) and Russell Wilson (100.6). Foles also has the highest career road passer rating in
NFL history, leading Rodgers, Philip Rivers, Joe Montana and Tom Brady.
The Eagles had the second best offense in the NFL last season, only trailing DEN. This season has been no different. We're averaging second most points per game(33.7), trailing only ATL(34.3). Foles has thrown for the most passing yards of all Qb's so far this season. Nothing has changed much about this kid. He just keeps on doing what he does.
I hope he throws for 300+ again in week 4, and notches another achievement for the record books. I know it's crazy, right? However, this just wasn't a single record or two that he broke last season. He's actually been breaking records since his rookie year. He's ALREADY in the HOF, and this is just his first season coming in as the starter. I'm not saying he's the best, but I do think it's time people recognize that this kid IS for real.
