I don't think I'd give him that much credit. If that were the case he would be in the headlines every day. It's not like Clowney doesn't go partying, and he's just as much of a high profile player. Never hear about him though. No idea how much credit I'm giving him or what you mean by that. But advanced calculus, his IQ is probably well above average, probably at least in the 130s. And it does seem like he's in the headlines every day or week - regardless of whether deserved, it's just dead right now. Clowney, it's not a huge intelligence position, no matter how much more talent it might take. No matter, I see what you're saying. He didn't come in with that lifestyle stigma/reputation. Math degree does not equal intelligence.

When you choose advanced calc as your major, you're either highly intelligent and enjoy it, or a masochist with no penchant for partying. lol It's not simple stuff like geometry or statistics. Don't think a person of average IQ could do it, at least not easily.

If you are going to dominate at a prestigious university (Texas A and M is not one) then it would require quite the high level intelligence for math, but the same could be said about most degrees, even those out of the STEM fields. BTW I'm not sure where you are getting that Johnny Manziel is any sort of math major. According to the Texas A and M site he's a sports management major.

Really? Was under the mistaken impression he was an advance calc major. Which you'd hope was not much easier from one school to another. Sports management? A major? In any university on earth? OK.

Even if he was in an advanced calculus major that doesn't make him smart.. That could just make him good at math. Intelligence isn't measured by how good you are at school, school measures aspects of a persons intelligence but I know plenty of morons who were good at school and I know plenty of people I consider to be very intelligent who weren't.

People using the term intelligence incorrectly is not smart.

It depends on how you define 'intelligent' and 'smart'. The way I define them, they are not mutually exclusive, but can be to varying degrees. Talking about your typical standardized IQ tests. IOW, math aptitude does not make someone smart, but intelligent in the traditional sense of the word. IOW, and inversely, there are people who suck at math that are highly intelligent, could be geniuses at other things like music, art. But conversely, if you demonstrate very high math aptitude, you may suck at life and make bad/not smart decisions whatever, but highly intelligent - again, in the traditional sense.

Sports management? A major? In any university on earth? OK. UW-Madison has a special academics dept that assists all their athletes. The most popular degree track? Agricultural Journalism. LOL

LOL You'd think that would be bizarre enough as just 1 course. I'd love to see the curriculum for that one. This is as far as I got: pubs.wisc.edu/ug/cals_degreesmajors.htmDairy Science and Poultry Science - bet you can minor in cheese curds, not kidding. lol
