AFC East was the 3rd winningest division in football this season.
A fact that I am sure I will bring up on more than one occasion this offseason, as I am sure people will continue to say our success is because we have the worst schedule in the league, somehow every single year...

Variable pricing will be used by the Patriots for ticket sales this upcoming season. This will be the first attempt by an NFL team to do this, but it is a common practice in other pro sports.
Preseason games will be cheaper, premier games will cost the same, and marquee games will cost more.
This probably wont affect the second hand ticket market like stubhub, ebay, and ticketmaster. It will affect the people who somehow manage to get individual game tickets within the 30 seconds before they sell out. I expect to see a rise in preseason attendance, which means an increase in concession and parking sales, and thus more money. There is no chance of a drop in attendance at higher priced marquee games, so therefore the concession and parking sales will remain the same.

Larry Fitzgerald has restructured his contract.
I am sure the media is extremely disappointed. They will no longer be able to waste all of our time with their stories about the Pats interest in Fitzgerald.

We can still daydream, right? I am hoping Andre Johnson still isnt happy in Houston. That's the sorta player who likely only go for a 2nd or 3rd round pick, and could be willing to take less money. I bet we make another run at Sanders or just stick with our current guys. Either way we are going to need to get a cap relief from Hernandez, which seems very likely to me and/or restructure the contracts of Mankins and/or Wilfork. I really cant see a scenario where either of them are back at their current numbers.

Releasing Connolly, Sopoaga, and Wilson would free up a little more than 6.5 million. We would have 14 million in cap room if we get the Hernandez relief, and around 17 million in cap room if the Fanene situation ever gets cleared up( for all we know it may have been already ). Could free up 8 million by releasing Wilfork, although I think the most likely scenario is a 2 or 3 year contract extension, in which he takes less money and spreads out his current money. Could save around 5-8 million in cap room this year. The Mankins situation is a bit more tricky, as his contract runs until 2016. I think Mankins will restructure, and convert his 6.75 million dollar base salary into a signing bonus, thus freeing up about 6 million in cap.
So if I had to make a prediction, I would say we will probably have about 23-25 million in cap room to work with after the cap casualties, Hernandez relief, and restructures/extensions. I think the first thing that will happen is a Devin Mccourty contract extension, which probably wont affect any cap situations this year. Then I think Talib will be the top free agent target, then Edelman. Assuming both sign for somewhat moderate contracts, we could see around 10-14 million dollars in cap room after they are brought back. You have to assume that about 5 of that will go towards rookie contracts, and 3 of that will be rolled over into next season. That could give us 2-6 million to spend on either a veteran safety, receiver, or defensive tackle.
I am projecting the cap at the same as it is this season, which could also change. Although there is almost no chance the cap will go down, there is a chance it will go up if the TV money comes in this year.

Ryan Wendell is also set to be a free agent. I think of him as a solid center. The type of player you can win with, but an upgrade would be worth it at the right price. Alex Mack is set to be a free agent, and I think he could be the type of player we could really use. The interior line will get upgraded at some point this offseason, and I think Mack could be a somewhat affordable player who could really improve this oline.

Kyle Arrington had groin surgery today. Not sure what the exact injury was, but it did sideline him on multiple occasions during games. He didnt actually miss any games though.
