The only thing that keeps us from being a complete team is the lack of a running game. So far, our two best teams in the Sean Payton era have been in 2009 and 2011, and in both those seasons, we had a top 5 rushing attack. If this 2013 team wants to be put in the same category as the aforementioned 09 and 11 teams, our run game needs to improve. I wouldn't feel comfortable heading into the playoffs with no running game. Agreed. They need to come up with a better blocking scheme because the RBs are getting absolutely no space to run. They also need a new kicker, Hartley missed 2 FGs today and I believe both were under 40 yards. Luckily they didn't need those to win but he hasn't been any good since the Super Bowl run, he cost the team 3 or 4 games in 2010 and lost the game against Green Bay last year. They should definitely think about getting a new kicker sometime soon before he starts losing close games when they need him to make a FG

I think we're in good hands (or should I say feet) with him. Looking at games since after 09: In 2010, Hartley was the difference (for better or worse) in the following games: @sf - (W 25-22) Hartley was 3-3 in FGs, including a game winner as time expired. Vs atl - (L 24-27) Hartley was 1-2 in FGs, He made one as time expired to send us to OT, but then missed a FG in OT. @dal - (W 30-27) Hartley was 3-3 in FGs @cin - (W 34-30) Hartley was 2-2 in FGs @atl - (W 17-14) Hartley was 1-1 in FGs Hartley didn't play 2011 due to injury. In 2012, Hartley was the difference (for better or worse) in the following games: Vs kc (L 24-27) Hartley was 1-2 in FGs @gb (L 27-28) Hartley was 2-3 in FGs (This game still bugs me. I don't like Packers fans.) @dal - (W 34-31) Hartley was 2-3 in FGs, including a game winner in OT In 2013, Hartley has been the difference (for better or worse) so far in the following games: Vs atl - (W 23-17) Hartley was 3-3 in FGs @tb - (W 16-14) Hartley was 3-4 in FGs @chi - (W 26-18) Hartley was 4-4 in FGs So, by my count, (since after the SB run) Hartley has won us 8 games, and lost us 3. That seems pretty good imo.

It just bothers me that about half of the FGs he misses are less than 40 yards. Since 2010 he has missed 13 FGs, 7 of those were from less than 40 yards and 2 of them were less than 30. If the majority of the kicks he missed were in the 40s to 50s I would probably be more lenient towards him. I know there are worse kickers out there but I think they can do better than Hartley 2010 - Ranked 20th in FG% 2012 - Ranked 22th in FG% 2013 - Ranked 25th in FG%

Although Hartley is pretty clutch, so I think that's a redeemable factor. I did some more number crunching, and in the 4th quarter/OT, Hartley is 21/26 in his career. That's 80%, which seems pretty good to me. I think it's also worth nothing Hartley has never missed a FG in the playoffs. He's not a world beater or anything, but he's good enough imo. And I'd rather have a kicker who can step it up in crunch time, even if he may miss a few in the earlier quarters instead of the opposite of that - a kicker who hits FGs in the 1st/2nd quarter, but crumbles under pressure when his team needs him most.

I didn't get to watch the game but from what I saw in the highlights the defense held up in the end and the offense failed once again. Brees threw 2 picks but neither were his fault. 1st one Watsons arm got hooked by Landry which resulted in the pick and Toon dropped the pass in the second one. The team needs to step it up when playing on the road, the only game they've really looked good in was in Chicago. Hopefully this is the game they were supposed to win but lost and do not lose to another underdog. I was really hoping the Bucs could have held that 21 point lead against Seattle but it was too good to be true

Jets D really stepped up yesterday, not to mention that former Saints RB Chris Ivory had a career game. I guess that playing against a team that let you go sometimes is a motivation factor.

I knew Ivory was going turn on beast mode playing against them. If they would have kept him they might actually have had a run game this season

He's just not getting a lot of carries which bugs me. I agree Ivory would definitely help out, but we have some good runners we just aren't using enough. Even Khiry Robinson has looked pretty good in the few carries he's had.
