Nick Foles looked pretty good for a second consecutive preseason game. Michael Vick looked even better.
Through two preseason games, Vick has done everything possible to win the Philadelphia Eagles' starting quarterback job. Vick completed his first nine passes for 105 yards and rushed for another 20 yards Thursday night against the Carolina Panthers. His appearance ended with an interception on a Hail Mary throw to end the first half, but that shouldn't tarnish his spotless preseason.
Vick looked calm in the pocket, going to his secondary read on a beautiful throw to convert a third-and-long. He looks very comfortable in coach Chip Kelly's offense, with just two incompletions on 15 preseason passes.
Foles, who started in Thursday's game, moved the ball well and ran for a touchdown, but he also turned over the ball for a second consecutive week. He made a big mental error on an interception in the red zone, which killed the Eagles' first promising drive.
The Eagles' offense was a lot of fun to watch for a second consecutive week. It was up-tempo and creative sometimes having four tight ends on the field at the same time. Kelly appears to have two promising options to start at quarterback. But Vick clearly has looked better and should be the Eagles' Week 1 starter.
That questionable defense sure looked sharp today as well. Good day baby

Special Teams .....
The Eagles appear to be set to go from one of the worst special teams squads in the NFL to one of the best --with perhaps one big catch. The Birds' coverage teams charged with intensity Thursday, delivering disciplined heavy blows to Carolina returners and leaving the Panthers with poor field position. And they got big-yardage returns from Damaris Johnson (punt) and Brandon Boykin (kickoffs). The potential glitch is kicker Alex Henery, who missed a 44-yard field goal. Henery's not a problem yet just a worry.
Go Eagles

Chip really needs to name a starter. He hasn't even named his starter for the next game.
make no mistake about it — at some point, Foles vs. Vick is going to become a situation, unless a decision is made. Again, it’s not a terrible situation, but it’s a situation nonetheless. Teams do not want situations.
With every day that passes and a starter not named (Kelly did not reveal the team’s preseason Week 3 starter vs. Jacksonville following Thursdays game), questions will continue to mount both inside and outside the locker room.
When Week 3 of the preseason turns to Week 4, and Week 4 turns to a few days before the start of the regular season, all the niceties could go out the window and that same friendly competition that’s driven both men to work harder could morph into a war that divides them further apart.

It was good to see big number 71, Jason Peters working out with the first team today at the Linc. Our best Offensive player(IMO) needs to be here for us this season.
The health of Peters is a major key for the Birds. They want him healthy, rested and ready to go when the season starts. He won’t play in the final game of the preseason, so he’ll have to play next Saturday or he won’t see action until the first game of the season against the native ameriskins.
What's nice is the the Eagles have been able to put up 400+ yards in its first two games w/out the big guy. #25 & #7 should only look better with Peters in the line up. I'm starting to have wishful homeristic predictions on how this season could at least start out.

I just saw Kelly's statement on trading Foles. He says no way. But if this team needs help at WR or a bad team like the Titans, Cardinals, Jags, or maybe even the Vikings overpay for him w/a second round pick then I'd be ok w/it.
But I like having him as the back up. Say what you will, he looked pretty fluid out there except for one bad Pick. He ran in a 7 yd TD!!!! Against the Panthers first D. Just saying that Philadelphia is better than most at the QB spot depth wise. Sure hope Barkley can show somthing. Hes been very unwatchable.
