Seattle has shown that they aren't afraid of bringing in long shots to fight for positions. I mean, Brandon Browner wasn't exactly a signing that lit up the CBS board when it happened, as I remember it, I seemed to be the only one who wanted to talk about it. As the offseason went on, I was the only one who saw him as the starter instead of Walter Thurmond. That signing seems to have worked well for the team.
I love the idea of seeing what Fells has to offer. Big, athletic ex-basketball players have had some success in the NFL as TEs, and if he can be solid, then we will have a dangerous TE corps. I also wonder if the signing of Harvin and the adding of what I would suspect is a pass catching TE isn't a sign that the Seahawks are looking to do a little more damage through the air this year.
Another guy I would like the Seahawks to pick up for a look is Lawrence Okoye. Not many 6'6" 300 pound men have sub 4.8 speed, with jumping abilities that rival WRs. He may end up as nothing, but if his athleticism can be harnessed, that could be a very scary DE that may be able to replace Red Bryant.

What is a 'FO'? Anyway, the author is extremely over-zealous in comparing Tony Gonzalez, Gates and Graham, who did play a little b-ball but also played football in college to this Fells guy from Argentina who only played b-ball in college, and hasn't played football since high school. And I seriously doubt it was anywhere near the level of even high school football in the U.S.. I wouldn't expect zippety-doo-da outta this guy. They are trying to make a story from nothing. In fact, I would seriously have doubts this guy is anywhere near the levels of a U.S. top ranked basketball team college player. Journalism at its absolute worst.
As far as the Seahawks are concerned, Zach Miller has been severely under-utilized since he landed in Seattle. IDK what to attribute that to. I have a feeling that the presence of Percy Harvin and a more experienced Russell Wilson will be a positive force for the whole team.

He was recruited to Michigan State, but left the school before playing football due to Nick Saban wanting him to play only football. So, at least 1 of the 3 is a fairly accurate comparison.

Gates did not play football in college, and he was an undrafted rookie who walked into the chargers FO and asked for a try out. I think.

Anyone else? Closest I can recall, and just going by memory was that Dave Winfield was drafted (or courted) by all 3 - baseball, basketball and football. I am a Yankee fan from way back so recall that much. Elway fan, so KNOW he was drafted (asked?) by the Yankees as well as football. I also know that Winfield never spent a day in the minors. On the starting team from day 1. My baseball memory is not that sharp, so correct me if wrong.
