And Gettleman's first roster move with the Panthers is signing DT Colin Cole. That's a grasshopper.

On a separate note, NFL.com has a poll up on the front page asking "which potential landing spot for Greg Jennings intrigues you the most?" and the 3 main choices are Cowboys, Dolphins, and Panthers, with Other being the fourth option. Can anyone tell me why we are even considered as a top potential team for him? I feel like I've missed something somewhere b/c with the cap situation the way it is right now, I don't see any chance in hell of us signing him or any other big name FA this offseason. So is this just them randomly throwing out 3 teams or has there legitimately been real talk about us signing Jennings in the past few weeks? Some of the popular buzz words for Carolina lately have been things like cutting down the RBBC and potentially getting rid of Williams. How true any of that is I don't dare say, but with speculation, I'd assume they'd use some of the recouped cap for Jennings (barring a straight trade where some one picks up his or Stewarts contract).

I don't want Jennings at all. Not worth the money. We have other needs to fill and we are really in a bad spot cap-wise.

Can't relocate? Or can't relocate cheaply? I was hoping to see specifics of the deal made between city/state and the team but haven't been able to find it. I heard Bruton Smith is an interested party. I hope for Panther Fans' sake that he isn't the future owner. He will continue to bully the city for more and more money until it isn't feasible anymore. Here's everything I've read as of yesterday: --Nothing has been finalized yet. JR is proposing to receive funding from both the city AND the state. --The deal calls for the city of Charlotte to give the team $143 million from a food and beverage tax increase paid out over the next 15 years. The city and the team have reached a tentative agreement on this, but they still need to have this approved by the state first. --JR told lawmakers yesterday he would like to receive $62 million from the state and would also seeking approval of the tax increases the team and the city have agreed to. --If (but more likely "when") all sides agree on what has been proposed by JR and the deal is finalized, it will guarantee the Panthers will stay in Charlotte for at least another 15 years... so no matter who the new owner ends up being, if/when this deal is finalized, there's NO WAY they will be able to relocate the team until 2027. No ifs, ands, or buts. JR has reiterated he has NO plans to relocate the team and, considering he has turned down 2 potential buyers already, it's safe to say he won't sell the team either until this deal is done and it's guaranteed the team will remain in Charlotte for 15 more years. Hope that clears it up for you. Thanks for the info. I can't wait for the deal to get done. I just want to see the language that would prevent the move. If is simply that whoever buys the team would have to pay back the 100 million, then that isn't much of a deterrent. I am just interested to see how smart Mayor Fox and the state is in regards to covering their behind. I hope the Panthers stay here for ever as it would kill a good portion of this town.

That's why I figured the poll was random because being $11 million over the cap doesn't give us any chance of signing any high profile FA's this year. And the Cowboys are even worse off then we are... they're $18 million over the cap. And shaggz, Williams will more than likely be cut. Out of all the possible players to be cut, I'd say he's at the top of the list. I had said from the beginning that he never should have been resigned to start with. One writer wrote in an article that Gamble is "almost sure" to be cut too and Beason might have his contract restructured. They better get the cap situation figured out fast because if they want to resign Newton in 2 years, they're going to need as much room as they can get.
